SUSAN HUGHES

TITLE
Brompton Swim

ARTIST
Susan Hughes

ABOUT THE WORK
Brompton Swim was created using industrial maritime Hi-Vis (high-visibility) paint bought at the fishing port of Killybegs, Donegal. It is used in harbours across the world to draw attention to edges, its fluorescence punctuating the greys of the sea, sky and concrete. An image of waves, which the artist took underwater while swimming in Brompton, Bangor, on a smooth lockdown winter evening, is printed in cyan blue on top of the high-vis paint layer.

All worries and sins were briefly washed away as our bodies bobbed in the gentle swell.
