ABOUT THE WORK
This work was originally created as part of artist Helena Hamilton’s solo exhibition at the Naughton Gallery, Virtual Matter [Ambient], in 2022, For this exhibition, Helena created a new 3D digital space, conceived from the last drawing she created before becoming a mother which she revisited from her new perspective and experience. For Virtual Matter [Ambient], she explored this new digital space, which was ‘birthed’ via a short computational ‘happening’ – an ‘ambient explosion’ which utilised physics and mathematical programming based on real-world data.
