Lorraine Burrell’s practice is concerned with documenting the female body in a variety of spaces.

 

ARTIST BIO

 

Lorraine Burrell is from Belfast.  She has been a member of Orchid Studios from 2019. Exhibitions include Libraries Project (2024); These Days are Persistent & Changeable, Golden Thread Gallery (2016); Guest artist as part of the RUA annual exhibition at the Ulster Museum (2015) and Everyday Selves at Belfast Exposed (2012).
She has exhibited at the Mostyn Open, Oriel Mostyn Gallery, Llandudno, Wales (2011) and Catharine Clark Gallery, San Francisco, (2011). Burrell has received several awards including British Council Award (2011) and Arts Council of Northern Ireland Visual Arts Awards (2010, 2008 and 2006).

Photographing herself has always been challenging in the context of revealing her own identity.
